Static sound coming from dash?

I am getting a weird static sound coming from the driver's side dash area. It sounds just like an old record player, just before and after a song on an old vinyl record. Real scratchy sounding, and very faint. It happens when the ignition is on and off; even when the key isn't in the iginition. It happened this summer for a short while also, so it isn't teperature related. Any ideas? I have a '92 325i with 104k miles.

Dude thats weird. Does it make the noise after the car has been shut off for a while? I thought it would be the ground in your radio, but I'm not sure...

I have the same thing in my car. Comes and goes. Next time I have the lower dash panel off I will remove the knee bolster and see whats behind there making that noise.
