I'd get a 540i daliy driver. I wished our budget allowed for it, but we picked up a 2000 TL instead. It's a great daily driver as well, it's got a lot of features, but also we had to get an auto. The CTS is nice, even the new 300M, but nay to domestics. A4 is not as roomy and G35, the price would be a factor.

You call that potential? That car is like 10 times uglier than stock.

Miguel, honestly, if you're serious about purchasing here, I would just go sit inside each of these cars. I can tell u first hand that an E39 interior out weigh's a G35 interior any day. G35 interior is no match for E46 let alone E39.

My only problem is that I cant justify buying a car 5 years older and with 70,000kms more than a newer car for the same price.

the 540 just isnt in the same league when you factor what you get for your $

u have to drive it. That's the only thing that will tell you what u really want.

I personally think G35 sedan is way too ugly to be on this list. CTS is really nice too, that would be #2, but its kinda for older people imo.

I really like the CTS (especially after watching Mr. and Mrs. Smith) on the weekend) but im just sketchy on it... new car, n.american made, who knows what can go wrong...

but style wise I think it is gorgeous.

You actually get a lot in a 540, esp if u go 6spd. Luxury wise, you actually get more than the other cars on this list since its a mid size luxury, the rest are 3 series competitors. I think the only one who would give it a run for lux would be the CTS.

Performance. I'm not 100% on this, but I'm sure someone will post the numbers down, but I think 540 has them in straight line speed. The only down side, is, yes, its an older car, but you still get a lot.

Drive a 540 and u will see what the hype is about. The car just feels solid unlike the plasticy feeling of a japanese car. Drive it and you'll see, you'll also become adicted to the torque.

caddy looks the best (pimpest)

audi is probably the best all around and handles like it's on rails

bmw would be fun but the e39 is getting dated... and you would have all your regular bullshit bmw problems

^^

lol, as long Paul doesn't show up with the M3 with painted rear door and trying to convince me my eyes are ****ed cause I'm asian.

but out of all seriousness, I'd take a GS400 for the same price, but they can be very hard to find.
