N52 3 stage intake on M54

Hey guys,

Random question but I've been curious and haven't been able to find anything definitive - was hoping one of you might know.

Why can't the E90 330i's 3 stage intake manifold be retrofitted onto the M54? I know there must be a reason or else we'd see this done - just curious what it is and why it can't be overcome.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not a tuning expert, but the motor would have to operate the N's 2 DISA valves vs the M's 1, or else you wouldn't see any gains. That's if the ports even bolt up... I think the intake comes into the manifold differently as well... Not to mention the n52 uses valvetronic in combination with the 3 stage manifold although this may not be a huge deal?

May also have to consider crankcase vent plumbing and other vacuum lines

For mechanical reference:

Intake ports are completely different, the M54 ecu can't adjust the DISA valves either. Therefor this mod would never work!
