Help identify strange PO wiring

Have a look at the pic. This was obviously done by a PO. There's an inline relay and it looks spliced into an original wiring harness with power wiring routed from the auxiliary fuse panel. When I make and brake the circuit at the panel the ABS pump clicks. Any ideas?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1404055325.656085.jpg

yeah..sounds like he wired it so that the ABS wouldn't come on..maybe due to preference or faulty abs pump/wiring?

Ya I pulled apart the loom and looks like instead of replacing the ABS relay under the dash they just used a typical 4 pin relay and wired it in the engine bay instead. I think I'll undo this and order the proper relay. Will pull the dash kick panel and see if that relay had a blown fuse. I expect it will.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1404076977.507313.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1404076993.122152.jpg

Sure enough the relay looks rough. See the pic. The silver casing had obviously been manhandled previously and there was electrical tape wrapped around the inside. Gotta love the crispy botched soldering job. New relay will be on order soon.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1404088178.534555.jpg

Ya no kidding. At least he bypassed the relay in such a way that I can undo it and restore to factory setup.
