I quote myself "For the most part, it's best to just stay away from aftermarket or rebuilt replacement parts".

Unless you're educated on what specific brand makes a equivalent part etc, it is always better to choose OEM and not risk a junk aftermarket part.

Try putting an aftermarket CCV system on your car and I'll pay for it if it lasts more than 12 months.
Right, my point is that you have buy good aftermarket stuff. There is lots of very cheap garbage out there. One of the best parts of owning a BMW is the great online community to share advice on things like aftermarket parts, so it's easy to be educated.

Given how loyal some people are to their oils, I wouldn't consider that a throwaway decision. There's entire websites devoted to choosing oil (BITOG).

Well, I've had OEM CCVs that only lasted a year so at least I'd be saving money with aftermarket. Ultimately I've taken to opening my oil filler cap every day in the winter to let the oily goo in the CCV evaporate.
