Post Berlin Klassik 2016 Photos

This was a fantastic show, straight up. Picturesque venue, very high quality cars, real car enthusiasts all over, hell even the food from the trucks was great (I had beef brisket poutine - I think I dreamt about it last night). Saw so many familiar faces, met many new ones also.

Typically I'll walk through a show and take 10-15 pics tops. This time, over 100. There was just so much to take in and remember. So here's a little writeup and coverage for anyone who missed out. All pics are straight off my phone, no edits.

Getting to the show in the first place was a challenge. Back in May, I tore the trunk floor and popped a ton of spot welds on my Z3M. I've had the car for 6 years and was waiting for that to happen. I got to finally pull the trigger on a ton of work I'd been planning for years: full trunk floor and differential mount reinforcement and refinishing, new brake lines, new fuel pump, new tank straps, slotted the subframe so I have camber/toe adjustment, new driveshaft, refinished everything back there to new, and a small fortune in new hardware from BMW.

Problem was, the shop has been insanely busy this year. Like, double our best ever summer. Which is amazing! But also means I didn't get to touch my own car until about a month ago. So this was Friday afternoon before the show weekend:

I had less than 48 hours to get this mess back together, mount my newly re-barreled wheels which I had no idea how would fit, get to the alignment shop, and detail the whole mess. But we did it! By midnight Friday I was driving around in the car. Saturday morning I drove up to Markham to see my favourite alignment guy (Pan-Pan Auto Repair). Here's my new stats:

My wheels were previously 18x10 and 18x12, which was just slightly too much for front to handle. So I went to 18x9.5, slimmed the spacers down by 5mm per hub, and pulled out some camber to keep everything flush but with better tire wear and steering feel. I had -4.0 all around last year (fronts due to the 10" rim, rears being non-adjustable I've been running that insanity for 6 years). Now with -2.5 front and -3.0 rear I should have much better tire wear. The ride quality is surprisingly quite softer too, I guess that's what happens were you're riding on 8 sidewalls instead of only 4.

Saturday evening success. Finished detailing and tucked away for the (rainy) night.

Pulling into the show:

Absurdly nice venue and day.

Parked and registered, I now got to walk around and see the show on foot.

Drool.

Drool again.

M3s on fleek.

Is this the M3 that was sold on here, used to be owned by a guy named Jay with the same wheels? It's in a bit rougher shape now, sadly.

Zaid's M5 sleeper swap. I provided the tiniest of help with this project, the guy built the whole thing on jackstands in his driveway. In like 2 weeks. Made 316 wheel on the dyno at the show.

Fil's Brilliantrot 850i 6-speed. BMW porn.

The other M Roadster.

Here comes the Benzes.

Love this gen E55.

My fav AMG C-Class, the C43.

Lapbelts and no headrests. Because racecar.

Those wheels though.

Gauge game strong.

Love 993s.

The original whale tail. Widow maker.

Okay this is gorgeous, but he's running stretched Nankangs. What the absolute ****?

911R.

Oh. Okay.

This guy was going OFF about my stretched tires to his buddy. Had to document it.

This car was okay. Could use a fluorescent vinyl wrap.

Don't see Quattros often!

Bizarre.

I have a thing for slammed Allroads. This one is even a 6-speed!

This 100 LS was stunning. Owner even gave up some cool facts:

Haha, nice.

Dean was killing it on the grill. Tip: Loiter around Fil's crew for free food.

Love the colours.

This looks like a bunch of fun.

And finally, I took home 2nd place in a car that had nothing rear of the transmission mounted underneath just 48 hours prior.

Hope you enjoyed the pics! Thanks to Berlin Klassik and all of the volunteers for a great day. Don't change that venue!

Thanks for the write up! Between that W210 E55 and white 993, I don't know what's more beautiful.

Sounds like there were seriously cool and unique cars! Thankfully I don't see a plethora of vinyl wrapped 335i coupes pissing oil on the grass.

I'm definitely not missing it next year!
