I have been watching this on the news all morning.. It's terrible. I had just woken up and for a few minutes I thought they were showing the footage from '86 (since that happened) last week or so in 1986.

Thats when I went to every channel and realized that this was for real... My heart goes out to all the families....

I'm not sure if I'm deciphering your sentence correctly, but no, space shuttles do not disintegrate often.

I was saddened to hear this this morning - the space program is one of the few media items that still captures people's attention aside from terrorism, bombings, Saddam, nukes, etc. Something peaceful for once.

Condolences to their families and colleagues.

Well what I mean is that there is a high risk of danger when a team of astronauts goes into space, there is a large risk something bad could happen. Now When I turned on the tv it was on almost every channel. It reminded me of sept 11. It is something horrible and I know that but I just thought it happened more often or something.

Oh, I see what you mean. The US space program has only had three major disasters, the Apollo 1 fire, the Challenger explosion, and this.

I guess there really is a high risk, but these sorts of things don't happen often at all.
