shock tower/battery cage completed.

well this part of it is now done, i will start to build a cage off of it now liek the guy that showed me his design.. what do u guys think?

then someone showed me there design



so then i modified my design to this..

just a random thought, say that bar flexs a bit or understress moves downwards, wouldn't that push down on the battery?

^^if you look closely you notice it is part the bar and not fit to the flood at all...it is the same set-up as an e21 and 2002....

If you really gave a damn about relocating the battery for track use, you wouldnt move it 12" further up. If I were doing it, I'd mount one of the tiny odyssey gel pack batteries (1/2 the size and weight) under the passenger seat, this way you save weight on the battery itself and also you have 1/3 of the wiring (more weight saving).

I think it's pretty cool, the strut bar; not sure I'd wanna relocate my battery, it's there for balance.

Do what thou wilt.

Some sturdy aluminum might have been a better choice, less weight. The amount of flex we are talking about here is in millimetres. Almost anything rigid enough would do.

strut bar looks pretty well built. Not sure why you opted to relocate the battery 2 feet forward in the trunk but big ups for fabing your own strut bar.
