Question Looking 4 advice on upgrading 2 a C43/CD43 headunit ?

Looking for some feedback on possibly upgrading my original BMW C33 radio (from my 1998 E36 328ia w/out HK sound) with a C43 or CD43 headunit.
Is this mod worth $150 ?
Also, can one retrofitt the Harmon Kardon sound system by purchasing used speakers and amp on eBay.
If "Yes", what parts would I need and is my car pre-wired for this change ?

All input would be appreciated !

I would suggest that you go aftermarket head unit. I have the same car as you and had the cassette player. Put in a Sony head unit and it improved the sound from the stock speakers. The only downfall it that it doesn't look stock but I can live with it.

Regarding the hk system. I think your money could be better spent on aftermerket also. I think that the hk systems are disapointing personally. I added a single 10" sub and an amp to fill in the bottom end and it sounds great. Did it for $200 with future shop sales.
