While I somewhat agree with you, an E30 M3 that LOOKS like that without any of the go fast goodies (IE stock S14) goes for about 25 grand. Those mods increase the value significantly, unless you can't find the right buyer of course. Still, that's about a $40,000 car, which is quite impressive when it's keeping up with a 600 k + car.
As BigD said, the CGT driver was at his driving limit, and the E30 M3 was nowhere near it's limit for 99% of the run.

Exactly... and it's even harder @ the limits (or close to them)... on top of that, the ring is a very hard and bumpy course... if you don't know the course and car well u'r not going fast.

Driving a 600 hp E30 isn't exactly a cake walk either.

Lol, obviously the guy can drive the damn thing, but give a rookie a stock powered e30 on a balls out suspension and they will spin out unless they know what they are doing. This guy is very gentle on the gas.

Yes, that is true. However we have some members that have modded their car far out of their driving potential, which really hurts their progress to improve themselves as drivers. The best teacher is a mildly modified car.

Both drivers are good. However, the Porsche driver sometimes took these creative lines- such as late apexing, or entering the corner in the middle of the road, presumably to setup for the next corner- which wern't really necessary- and that is when you can clearly see the M3 catch right up.
Seemed like the M3 driver was more familiar with the track.
