Buying a 330i

I know this has probably been asked a million and 2 times before but i can't seem to find anything. I am currently looking to sell my S2000 for a 01 330i. I was wondering what some of the things i should e looking out for are? Are there and warranty issues that i should be checking up on, common problems, etc.

Any help and guidence would be much appreciated.

Sorry for newbie questions

01 was the first year for the 330i. Most 01 330s come with boosted steering, which was removed in 02 models. Common 3 series problems : Window regulators, front control arms, Rear trailer arm bushings, VANOS making noise, rear diff ripps out from frame if your beat the car. They are great cars. I have an 01 330i myself and love it. OOh, and don't change your oil according to the BMW maintenance guide. Do it every 5 to 8k. I do mine every 5 or 6k. The 3.0 is suppose to be one of the most reliable engines BMW has ever made.

Congratulations on the baby.

I asked because I like the S2000. Its a great summer/weekend toy, assuming one has a primary vehicle.

There is alot on that list, but its not as bad as its sounds. Those are things that CAN go wrong, but might not necessarily happen. Just whatever car you buy get it checked out by a mechanic that is familiar with these cars.

But you can pretty much count on the front end going, so have that checked out. The more common ones are: Window regulators, front control arms, front sway bar links.

A manual 330i is better. The automatics are not the best.

As already posted, don't wait the 24,000KM to change the oil. I do mine every 10,000 to 12,000 KM as mine is mostly highway.

^^^yes...actually the window regulators are more common on the Ci becuase the window goes up and down every time you close/open the door because there is no window frame on the door.
