Question 94 320I: Engine Size

I purchased a 94 320i, about 3 years ago. Iíve had no real problem except that the air intake box caught on fire and I had to change the cam shaft sensor as well. I had read about the air filter box catching fire on this site, but I still donít know why. I really enjoy my little toy, but I have one question that I hope you can help me with. Before purchasing the car I did a VIN check, and it said it had a 2.5 engine, the seller also said it had a 2.5. Tag on the door, says made in Germany, and the trunk indicates 320i; is there a way to identify the engine type.

Also, I need the following parts.
- Tail light (white): I have the standard yellow set, but the left brake does not work.
- white/clear front signal lights and side lights
- Middle console with cup holder.
- Back shocks
- 15Ē winter rims ONLY.

thanks
Akwasi

I got 15" winter rims but they're already mounted with almost new Michelin snows. I also have back OEM Sport shocks.

How the hell did your intake catch on fire? More specifically, do you know WHAT PART caught on fire? I find that very strange and scary. I've never had that problem.

As for the engine. Its made from the M50 block (same as the 325i) motors. This model was only exclusive to canada as well i believe. So i'm not sure if in fact it is a 2.5 or not

The 320 has a 2L. Unless the motor was swapped, in which case the VIN on the motor is on the backside of the head, against the firewall.
