I use Royal Purple in my M3 10W40 only in the summer, its great!

I suggest to customers that they never go over 6000 miles on oil... Synthetic is a must... Extended is a Load of crap... Use MOBIL 1 Pure synthetic

I change my oil every 50K on my winter beeter E36 325I never had any problems with it it curently has 300K+ and driving it for another 300K
I use Lubromoly.

yes, its good for winter. no, its not too thick. excellent year-round oil.

I change mine every 5 to 6k and I use Lubrimolly 5w-40 or Agip 5w-40. I think that 5w-30 is not a good choice for BMW. It does not have the heat tolerance that we require.
