Check engine light turned on

well...
I was driving along and my check engine light turned on. My car is not driving any different and is not making any noise not overheating.

What can it be? should I just wait and see if it turns off?

any ideas.

Yeah man, just get the code read, if you dont notice a differnece its prob no nig deal, I've been driving with CEL for about 6 months because of my secondary air pump,

I have a question, Anybody know if having your CEL does anything if theres nothing really wrong? WHat I mean is, like, I know the car is not in a limp mode or anything, but just out of curiosity, does the ECU change anything at all when the CEL is on?

Bring it in... It knows somehting you dont. We (they) will hook up the computer for it. If everything is alright... then they should reset the light and you will be on your way!

Bring it in!

the light turned off on its own. I think it was the gas I had put in or something. because I filled up and the light turned off. maybe the cap was not on tight. dunno. but everything is good. thanks anyways.

a dying O2 sensor will make the light go on an off a few times until it stays solid for good. but as long as u know what it is, not a big deal to drive with it on. i drove with my light on for over 2 years before replacing the dead O2 sensors.
the only problem with that is if u have anything else go bad during that time u wont know it, cuz the light was already on.

The check engine light can be one of many things. Why not just get it scanned and know exactly what it is instead of guessing, or trial and error.

I will definitely run a test if the light ever turns back on. But for now the light is off, it was only on for 2days.

thanks again guys
