Notice a ATF leak. What causing it?

Just got a 525i and it was not maintained well, did Tune up and Oil change and serviced with other fluids. But i notice a drop of ATF oil where i left it parked. Did look at it but dont know where to start. Wana do a DIY first before servicing. Thanks

often ATF leaks from the power steering hoses. it's a common problem in e39

Cool, nothing to worry that much, just got it last week and need to work on it. Im getting a manual for this, but if somebody had a chance to change there hose, was it easy? Let me check the hose.....

make sure it is a hose ....even though it is often a case it may be something else.
also if it is ATF from the power steering check the level as you don't want to have your powersteering work dry
