s50 or s52 cams

is there any difference in power between the two sets of cams when putting into an M50? what chip would go the best with the cams?

You can only put the S50 cams into a M50, and likewise only S52 Cams in a M52.

You will need a chip though, I cant remember who sells them (Eurosport or Turner maybe?) or get something custom

Why can't you put the S52 cams in a single vanos M50?

According to VAC and turner the S50/S52/M50/M52 single vanos North American motors all share the same camshaft design and the camshafts are interchangable. (http://www.vacmotorsports.com/cgi-bi...pl?item_id=454)

S50 and S52 cams are different lift and duration. I believe the S52 ones are more aggressive.

Yes, the goal with more aggressive cams is to give you more power on the top end.

Actually the 3L cam will fit the 2.5L, 2.8L and 3.2L, but the 3.2l cam will only fit the 2.8L. Something to do with counterbalances no clearing the cam rack. Basically if you swap the cam rack with the cam, an S52 cam will fit in an M50 head.

And JazzM, I've heard the opposite, the S50 cam is slightly more aggresive.

Yeah looks like due to the counter balance the S52 cam will not clear the M50 cam rack. It also appears that the S52 cams are hollow as opposed to the S50 ones being solid.

Havn't seen any TIS numbers regarding lift and duration yet.

You can put the S50 cams in both the 2.5,2.8 and the 3.2.
