Differential - Auto versus Manual?

Is there is a difference between an automatic and a 5 speed with respect to a E36M3 differential? Are they interchangeable? Do the gearing ratios get all messed up?

the ratios are different, though they are interchangable.

I'm not positive, but I believe the manuals use 3.15, and the autos + lightweights use 3.23. Though some people upgrade to 3.46.

Thanks guys for the feedback!
Would you guys know what the ratios would be for an E30M3? I'm currently doing a 3.2L Euro Spec M3 engine swap into my E30M3 but I'm using the same E30M3 tranny. Already pulled the old S14 out and just trying to line up the new S52 motor in the smaller engine bay. From what I understand, the gearing ratios for the E30M3 diff is pretty high...maybe too high? Concerned that I'll lose my high end and be reving at like 5000 rpm at 100km/hr even in fifth gear. Thinking of taking the diff from my E36M3 and swapping it out with the E30M3. Might benifit both my cars?
