Help!

Hi
I have a 1995 318 with 190000km and the engine light was coming on and off so I changed the Oxygen sensor and cleaned the ICV and changed the spark plugs. The car is now running rough and it wasn't before.
Does the computer need to be reset or injectors need to be clean?

Anyone have any advice?

What kind of spark plugs did you get? Do you have to space them, if so are they spaced properly?

I would also start by checking that everything was connected back the same way. Any hose you took off, the plugs are in properly.

That's all I can thing of, but I am pretty sure somebody with more experiance will soon reply

did you get an OEM o2 sensor or aftermarket, if aftermarket, you may have the wires crossed.

Does the car idle high?
Does it bog dogn when you stomp on the gas?
Does it shut off after you let off the throttle?
Does the Check Engine light go off after revving the engine for a while?
Is the car backfiring?

Could also be a pre-cat oxygen sensor and sounds like it, mines going too but for now just tripping a code every now & then, will soon have to replace it with 185k on the clock.
Get one of the TO guys to run your codes next meet.

i believe the OBD1 only has 1 o2 sensor. and he said he already changed it.

sounds like sparks, i replaced my sparks with some bosch plat +2, and it ran nasty, stuck in some iradium ones, and now runs smoother then ever. Try different sparks before spending anymore money on other things.

Thanks everyone for replying so quickly.
The spark plugs are bosh +2 ,and the O2 is from the dealer.
No spacing on the plugs and no high idle but when I stop the idle drops to almost 0 then after a few seconds it goes back to normal. When I step on the gas it takes time to go but I didn't have this problem before the O2 was changed. The engine light doesn't come on anymore. The car is smooth when it is cold until it gets hot and then it runs rough. The car is burnning the gas bad and the smell is like the bus fumes.

I will change the spark plugs and the oil. Is 15W40 a good choice?

First and most important question is...... did you get a torque wrench when u put the spark plugs in or did you guys grab and wrench tighten them and said i should be good.

Plugs are very finiky and should be torqued around 27 newton meters. with a plus/minus 2 variation.

if that doesn't work change the plugs, you might be getting a misfiring cylinder causing the bad idle.
