e39 5401a - Missing Power
Hi,
Our E39 540iA is having some partial power missing problem. Sometime, there is no power for about 3 seconds and then, the power kick back. It can heppen anywhere, but most of the time, it's on highway. It feels like the car is shutting down for 3 sec and comes back to life... Anyone know what can be wrong ? Also, sometime, when you are at a stop light, the car stalls...

the cats could be clogged, it happened to my 540 a couple of years ago

sounds like cats are done...whats the mileage on it?
Go replace it under warranty at the dealership if it's under 130,000K or 8 years. I did it twice already....

what? you mean you gutted the cat? I assume you running those o2 sensor simulator, may be check those out.

it could, mine went bad and it stalled twice while coming to a stop.

My buddy's 540 MAF bought it, and it had similar symptoms. Eventually, the CEL came on as well as the trac light. If you were here in TO, I'd offer to scan the car for you.
