sunroof problem

i just got my motor fixed and i have the one button sunroof but the problem is that it wont stop and close i have to push the button when it is exactly closed. i could deal with that but when i thought that everything is fine and i locked the doors the sunroof opened again. now everytime when i lock the doors the sunroof goes all the way t the end and it doesnt stop when it is closed it goes further and the sunroof goes up a little from the back. what could be causing this

when you installed your sunroof motor, it was not in the same position as the sunroof panel.

Before installing the sunroof motor, you need to press the button to open / close / tilt it a few times to figure out what position it's in. If your sunroof is open, then put the motor in the 'open' position, then bolt it in place. The motor was bolted in, while geared in the wrong position.

no luck with that. I reinstalled the sunroof as u said but it does the samething. There is two problems.

1. The sunroof doesnt know where to stop when closing, this problem i can deal with

2. I manage to put the sunroof in closed position but then when i lock the car it tilts up.

Beginning of the story:
I have a 93 325i with a glass sunroof, ye thats right glass sunroof i went to get the motor for the sunroof and i was told that my sunroof is aftermarket. I got the motor for it but there was another problem this time, the switch wasnt getting power. I ran a wire from the switch to the motor and everything started working. right now i dont even know if the problem is mechanical or electrical. and ideas

... where is your switch/motor getting power from? if you give it a power lead that only gets power when your key is in the accessory position then there is no possibility of the sunroof tilting when the car is off.

No you can't really deal with this problem, I would get that fixed. This will cause your parts to move more then required, therefore putting stress on parts and eventually breaking. You will end up in a really bad situation, I've been dealing with my sunroof for 6 weeks and $300 in parts and it still doesn't tilt. I finally found a place that will work on it...

You said it was an aftermarket(so it's not BMW), maybe your pieces aren't plastic.... Good luck man.
