Thats the point...... the getrag's and zf's are interchangable, and if the 6spd is a ZF and bolts up to the early M coupes, it'd swap right in to a E36

btw, the 6sp is a gertrag, not a zf. zf is a 5sp.

 soldo.
Tom buy this. You can put it in the mz3. err, in the trunk. Hook it up to its own turbo or something and use that boost to generate more boost in the first e46 engine. BOOST.
i dont know you'll think of something

engine moved out of the garage, but Don said he will still take emails and direct you to the owner of the engine, im certain you can get this cheap.. dont forget its the whole shabang(engine, clutch, tranny, driveshaft, diff, rear axle).. i think he might even have the harness now but you would have to get in touch with him.

It sounds like a great deal!
you think if I buy a E46 323ci shell or sedan(or maybe a 325ci/or sedan), would the motor and go in easily?

blah, S54 swaps are for suckers(sorry Tom, j/k), go with M73. Just 4lbs more than S54 and has 100lb/ft more torque. And it cooler to have 354ci than 332ci anyway.

^^ vlads right any engine swap is for suckers....with teh money your paying for this engine, the time, the addition parts, etc etc....you might as well sell your car and buy the ///M .... the only time I can understand a engine change is if you have a show car/Race car and blow the engine but you put so much work into the car its a shame to dump it....that should be the only time a engine swap should be considered.... IN MY OPINION

Well, thats no exactly what I said in my post above, but I agree with you. To be quite honest, I dont understood why Tom even bothered with S54 swap. With the money he spent, Im sure he could've gotten the real deal, and prolly even saved some money.
I can see why people would do unique swaps though.

Well my issue was that the motor that was in my car needed a rebuild anyways. Therefore, I wayed out the different possibilities and went with the one I believed made the most sense.
