get yourself 4 ltrs of gear oil. its usually 2 for the diff and 1.5ish for the rear diff.

Justin remember ur Manual Tranny Takes ATF fluid. DEXTRON II. they should be a tag on the tranny tell u wat type of fluid to put in.

1.2L ATF Dextron II
1.8L (API - GL5 SAE 90 Gear Oil)

dont the transmissions use dexron III, not II?

Havn't ever filled my tranny on a e36, if like a e30 pretty simple, Theirs a second bolt to remove @ the fill line, once leaking out on a level seface it's full (ATF). 17mm hex nut I beleive.
As for the diff 1L of normal type 80/90 gear oil, the smelly stuff.
Bently says 1.1L
I only put in a litre of synthetic 75/90 while I had it on the bench.
Need about 2L (spilage, pump line priming) to gravity feed it with diff on the car, bit of a PITA on a 318 to get the 14mm hex in, the spare tire well is too close to use a ratchet.
