how do you tell how many liters

iam pritty sure my car is a 2.7 but not a 100% how do you tell on all cars ??? cause i been reading there is alot of 2.5 so how do you tell it's prob a stupid question thanks alot

Year and model?

There is usually also a marking on the head, if you can see it, it should say 2.5 or 2.7.

Also you can usually tell from the intake manifold, the 2.7Ls use a less efficient design. So assuming no one changed the Intake mani, you can tell by that.


BTW: if you still have that 86 325e, its a 2.7L .

yea it's a 325 e 86 yea i figured it was a 2.7 what is a better 2.5 or 2.7 what models and year have the 2.5

The 2.5 is better. You can also tell by the valve cover, "BMW" written on it means it's an i (2.5), roundel means it's a eta (2.7).

Plus the 'i' has no cold start valve or bellhousing sensors.

Not always an accurate test as a lot of later model 325i's have 2.5/2.7L stamped on the head as it was the same one used in the 88 super eta.
