Nope it has never worked summer or winter...like I said the key won't even go in. I have an original key worn with use and a brand new key cut at BMW from the VIN and neither work. I don't think the lock was replaced either which is why I find it weird that it won't work.

It is a sweet system BUT when it starts to wear out STOP USING IT. I know because i used mine for a year (i think its awesome that it would give me time to come out and pepper spray some mofo trying toget into my window, and then commence to tear his face off and kill him with a lead pipe) but after a while it has begun to get MUCH harder to unlock after its been double-locked(i call it double locked). Now i can pull up the lock from the inside driver side when it is double locked so i need to get new door locks. basically when it starts to seize up its of no use and starts destroying the other aspects of the lock.

PS i hate car theives sorry if i went overboard.

Quoted from the owner's handbook, the electromechanical locking system- By turning the driver's door key further to the right(clockwise) to a hortizontal position, the central locking system activites an electromechanical locking system to further thwart theft.
Note: The locking device can only be operated with the master key. Do not engage this system with passengers being in the car.

F***ing crap... I finnaly understand why I could not get the system to work concistently. What pisses me off was that the master key got stolen...
