Check Engine Light

How can i run the codes to see why the light is on?

I did a search and found someone saying "turn the key on, pump the pedal 5 times and it will blink the codes in a 4 digit number" - i tried this, and it did not work for me.

1988 BMW 325i 4dr auto.

Thanks,

Jeff.

Ahh, it flashes with the Service Indicator Light and not the Check Engine Light? We had problems with our cluster, and our service indicator stuff is not hooked up.

Is there any other simple way to get the codes?

No. The CHECK light flashes.

It won't work if your SI board is missing/inop.
