That is about it.

When you have the car you take the ownership, emissions, saftey and proof of insurance to the ministry pay the taxes and off you go.

Actually the used vehicle package is only a requirment if the sale is a private sale, if you are purchasing the vehicle from a dealer of any kind then it is not needed.

I work at a dealership and one of my jobs is licensing if anyone has anyother questions.

i think hes talking about a private sale cause usually a dealership takes care of all the paperwork no?

Ya the dealership does take care of the paper work unless you buy the car as is like I did when I bought mine. I had to do everything on my own.

Even if its private, dont worry about the used vehicle package...It does not have to be signed by the previous owne...When you transfer the car they just charge you the $20 anyways and thats it...

that 20 bucks is for the used vehicle package! which the seller is repsonsible for! and technically there not supposed to sign the vehicle to you till hes signed the used vehicle package, but most places accept a written recept

4banger.

If you're buying from a private seller:

-Inspect the car yourself
-Have a mechanic inspect the car
-Get UVIP to check if any LIENS on vehicle
-Pay the owner
-If the car needs safety/e-cert
......-Get a 10 day permit BEFORE YOU TRANSFER THE TITLE TO YOURSELF
......- Get car safetied/e-tested
......-For a 10 day permit you can put it under any other insurance policy you own, but by this point its good to have insurance on the car.
-Go back to the ministry, pay taxes on the car
-you HAVE to have insurance by this point
-Pay for your licence plate
-Pay for your tags (sticker)
-do burnout in parking lot of MOT

Yes jay, i know that! lol But 99% of sellers dont know about it, so in most cases you can knock down another $20 off the price of the vechicle! The only thing they need is a signed ownership...
