Is THIS an INTERNET Scam??

I am selling an item on CRAIGLIst TOronto and i got acouple responses but the thing is the potential buyer's sound very similiar to a warning given on craiglist about scammers. All three interested buyers live to far away to meet, and they want to use these types of payment methods -
1. US money order which will be handled by paypal
2. payment in Stansard $ International "Auction Payment" in
(U.S)money order@bidpay online, and after payment went through you
will Receive a Confirmation Mail from BidPay..
3. payments via moneygram

Is there any way to make sure these are not scams and i wont get SCREWED..

this is the warning post.. http://toronto.craigslist.com/about/scams.html

I've been screwed by someone before with a money order the good thing was I didnt send him anything till the funds cleared. If you go through wait untill the funds clear and then give them the item and make sure that the person is clear with the arrangments!

let them pay you via US money order.. as long as you get their money first, and make sure it's legit before you send out the product.

make sure you don't give them any personal information, even if they say they need it to send you money.

Hello,
MoneyGram is an international online payment method. The buyer makes the payment using the seller's full name and address, cos moneygram will deliver the money to the seller's residence within 24hrs after payment approval. When the payment is approved, moneygram sends the seller an approval email to notify him. The seller would only have to show his international passport, or driver's license before he is given the money. I believe its a very convinient payment method, and so, if u still wanna sell to me, i'll need ur full name and address to commence with the payment. pls reply...
Thanks

What do u guys think i should do nexxt? THANKS!

Personally I only trust two types of US payments:

US money orders... make sure they are valid internationally... there are two types... one of them can only be cashed in the USA... they have to make sure its an international money order.

Set up a PayPal account.. they take a fee but its very safe and reliable.

Good luck.

Start by doing the following:

1) Get the full header information from the emails they sent you.
Almost all of the time, the email header includes the IP address where the email originated from.

2) Peform IPWHOIS lookup for the ip address - http://www.dnsstuff.com/

3) Most of the scammers do not reside in the US/Canada.

4) Accept the US money order but do NOT send the item until the cheque clears. It may take up to 4 weeks for a US money order to fully clear!

Good luck

SL

dude, dont worry, get a paypal account, small fee, but if you dont get the payment youcan get insurance on it from paypal. but a money order as far as i know clears as soon as you cash it, but i dont know i just get them all the time at my business. as soon as i cash them the money is there.

Paypal is still not safe those people seemed like they can't wait to complete the deal. So most of the time paypal account is stolen and they want to pay you before the account gets suspended. Once they pay you and the original owner reports that to paypal the money you got gets taken away by paypal and you end up being without a product or money.
