Brake Pad Question

On acouple occations while braking my brakes would grind so I decided it is time to change my brake pads. Well I was told that my rotors are probably not smooth and I woudl have to get thos changed as well. I dont wanna dish out the money for the rotors so I am wondering if i can just change my brake pads and leave it at that. IS that ok or what can happen?

what do you mean by grind?

Im no mechanic, or expert, thats for sure.. but from what I know of brake rotors, they could possible be warped??? but that doesn't happen very frequenlty do it?

They may have rusted up a bit, so the first time u break in that day its clearing up the rust so it might be "grind like" ? Or is some sort of really loud noise. If its a high pitched screech sound as you come to a halt then its your break pads indicating they are low.
