e30 325ix vs jetta vr6

This is by no means a kill story, far from it.

Must have been around 8:45 PM yesterday July the 12th, i was heading south on the DVP minding my own business in the right lane when a jetta vr6 passes me to the left probably doing 140. I accelerate to 120 odd and move a lane over...

There was some traffic ahead, so the jetta slowed down and i ended up behind him somewhere around the downtown BMW store. The guy in the jetta guns it and i downshift to 4th and give chase. Jetta isnt getting away from me and at this point all i want to do is just keep and have some fun.

The jetta accelerates along the 2 lane on ramp to the gardiner and the guy turns his left signal on so i know that he is going to jump into the left lane and gun it. He does exactly that and i shift to 3rd, full throttle, red line, 4th and i am gaining on the jetta again..

i was happy and content to just flash my lights and give the guy thumbs up but before i could do that, he starts to brake for no reason what so ever. and braking hard. i wasnt following him too close, it was obvious he was on a "spirited" drive himself and all i was doing was trying to keep up.

the jetta then just accelerates again, this time i didnt want any part of the action and let him go.. he exits at spadina.

to me this is just an example of an a**hole who just wants to be the fastest driver on the road and should have done better than let my 16 year old car catch up to him. even if i did catch up, i didnt want to blow by him or anything, just some mature fun in good spirit. if anything learn to appreciate a good drive and be classy on the road.

i've actually stayed with a vr6 gti on the highway and at some points caught right up with him....i think that a e30 325 5spd is just as quick or quick then a vr6...(depending on driver and maintance of car)
