Don't blame the car cuz the driver's skill isn't up to par of the car's performance. An autocross is the best place to learn where the limits of your car is, and learn to control your car, especially when it's out of control.
And remember, there's
no such thing as too much power...

Your right.
AWD does have a higher threshold point where it will loose control.
But if it does, it is much more difficult to control once it's past that point.
With some skill, one can counteract a slide with a rwd vehicle with tactfully applied power and steering.
