Does anyone have a roll-bar??
I'm starting to consider getting a bolt-in for point roll-bar, like a DAS-sport, TC-Kline, I/O port, etc, etc..
Does anyone have one?? Or know where I can get one done locally without paying an arm and a leg.
Something like this, but with a removable x-brace, for those extra passenger emergencies.

stephen aka braindamage has one. similar to the pics, but without the horizontal piece, but the center piece is removeable. forgot where he got it though, but local for sure.

Why wouldn't they'? It'd just make my car safer.

Considering all posts about race-prepped cars, street cars use at the track and insurance on the Trillium website site last year, your insurance company may have a different view (ie., that you are using the car outside of normal driving conditions, eventhough it may not be a timed event.) Lets just say you will be in a gray area for sure, so be prepared for the worst case scenario of not being covered.

How about they drop you if you have a roll cage.
State farm did.
State farm " Why do you need a roll cage?"
Me "For auto-x and driving schools\ for show"
State farm "So for racing"
Me "No"
State farm "Sorry we can't insure you with a cage, do to you possibly racing"
Me "D'oh!"
I fought it all the way to state farm head quaters in the states, for them to send me priority mail saying that you have 2 mouths to find a new carrier.

I heard that police and fire men frown upon cages, because in case of an accedent and the jaws of life have to be used it would be harder to cut a person out.

I got to get my car appraised first. I have a couple for numbers for custom insurance companies. Any other "regular" insurance company will do it only under a facility policy $$$$
Only people with VERY bad records that cant get insurace go under a facility policy. Last case scenairo.

1. How much will the appraisal will cost?
2. How much do you think your insurance will increase over what you were paying with State Farm?
3. Should I do the same thing? BTW i'm not putting the car on the road this year or plan on a roll cage in the very near future.

I think an appraisal is about $100-200.
My insurance will most likely go down. With custom insurace you car will only be a week end car. No driving to work, to go get groceries, or any daily chores.
I,ve heard of people paying 40-80 bucks a mouth.
I told my insurance about my stuff, they would'nt have knowen. But if you get into a crash and try to clam it you might be in for a shock.

I would probably not claim anything if I got in an accident. Now back to the "special" insurance coverage....
What if the car is more than just a weekend track car?
