Sub location and direction?!?!
hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knew about which way to face subs in an E36. I've heard contridicting opinions about it. some people say it'll hit harder if the subs are facing the driver and some say it's better if they face the trunk lid....and well it obviously matter what kind of car its in...obviously a hatch back will be better with subs facing the hatch, but I'm not sure on a 4DR E36...
I talked to a couple stereo shops and they all seem to be 50-50 on the subject. so I though I'd ask on here. I got two 12s. I have the fold down rear seat which will make the install a little easier, but I'd love ta hear what you guys have ta say!
thanks!!!

do you guys have a solid box thats moulded to the sides of the trunk?! what I'm worries about is the pressure in the trunk....I'll be pushing around 1000-1500 RMS watts....and I want to mould the box to the sides and top/bottom of the trunk so the air wont be able to move back and forth as easily....also I dont want to lose the pressure through the cracks between the trunk seals...

I have a 92 325i Sedan and I'm looking for the same information. I have a pair of 10" and I want to run the ports thru the fold down rear armrest in the back seat. Can I do this?

You can but you will not get the optimum output that way. I would recommend facing them towards the trunk and let them bounce off that to give you nice sound. Keep the arm rest folded down to let more bass in...

Yes I must agree, face the subs to the back of the trunk and bring the ports for the box thru the armrext/ski sack for the best over all sound in a small package....and don't forget to dynomat the trunk area

Ok . . . I want to face the speakers this way and I can run the ports from the other side, thru the armrest? (See pic. . . . pic compliments of M3speed)
I photoshopped out his ports.
How deep should the ports go into the box?
