How do you determine what kind of amp you should get when you hav subs only?

so let say the subs were 250W, does that mean i need a 250W amp?

Thanks in advance

match the rms wattage of the sub and speakers.

Is it 250 Watt Max or RMS? Pretty big difference.

For example some subs claim 500 watt max power handling, but only 150w rms.
