Me and my buddy are trying to install rear speakers on his car a (97 tercel) but we have no idea how to do it because he is an idiot when it comes to cars and I have never done any audio work at all. The car never had rear speakers before so we located the rear speaker wire in the back but the wire feeds into some plastic piece and splits into two prongs. The speakers on the other hand come with one side of the wire that will fit in a 2 prong setup and the other that will only fit in one. can I just splice the wire from this plastic piece and splice the actual speaker wire and solder the wires together and than connect them to the spaeker. Thanks for any help at all as i said I dont know anything about audio.
when i did that install to my 1999 tercel i just spliced into the speaker wires right before the plastic piece, and as the speakers i got didnt fit quite right i used MDF to make a bracket and screwed the MDf to the metal in teh car then mounted the speaker into the mdf.
