-fuel filter (very cheap if you DIY)
-cam seal / crank seal if you are leaking oil from the front
-check condition of rad, replace if necessary (you can find one used easy)
-replace rad hoses (stupid thing to fail and can really screw you at the side of the road)
-flush tranny fluid
-inspect brake lines / fuel lines
-replace brake fluid with new fluid, bleed, check rotors / pads while ur there
-change plugs
-inspect wires
-buy haynes manual (cheap), go through each of the steps to check throttle, etc, especially thermotime sensor and cold start valve
Hope this helps!

i can vouch for that... the body on my car has gone to crap, but the motor runs even better than when the car was new. And by doing the routine maintenence, you shouldn't have any problems.

87 is okay for an eta, as I mentioned before, it is a low compression engine and does not require premium.......I have no pinging on mine at 87 or signs of too low of octane.

Their is enough compression to cause knock as with a chipped eta, I'v had knock from filling up a shady gas stations before with "supposibly" high octane, funny how when I avoided thoes stations it went away.

So... did you read the whole post? The guy has a chip. That means he needs to run hi octane.
