New 50 cent coins??

Has anyone gotten one of these yet? i've heard of people getting them now but i've never seen one

why would canada make something like that anyway?

I just picked up a roll of 25 pieces from the post office. You can also get them at select Laura Secord outlets. Supposedly they are legal tender and is very acceptable for usage. They mint these in the hundreds of thousands (if not millions?) so there is nothing particularly rare about them. Yet people hoard these kind of things. BTW, I paid $15 for my roll - the extra $2.50 was for a handling charge. That handling charge just stopped me from having any plans of using these coins as common currency any time soon. Anyways, I think they look cool - far better design than those lousy quarters we've been getting over the last few years.
