I'm dissapointed ... this was supposed to be a great picture, but didn't come out that well. Maybe some photography tips would help. I want the result where you can see the nice sunset, while you can see the cars too, not dark like these two.
what camera are you using . What you can do is get your camera close to the cars so it meters for the cars then move away to where ver you want to take the picture and compose your shot. If done successfully you will be able to see the cars but the sunset will be pretty bright. You can always dodge the cars out in photoshop or something.

Or you can set your light meter options to only meter the AF spot, not the whole frame.
