Unhappy $tealer

Okay I just paid 92 bucks for 2 little microfilters for my "ti" that should cost no more than $20 each.

Are there any other alternatives for BMW parts than the bloody dealers($stealers) here in Toronto?

Thanks

SL

I wonder if Alex @ Daytona will sell you them over the counter (I don't see why not). I know he's much cheaper in terms of service work then the dealer.

They sell and service BMW's, Mercedes, Porsche, & Ferrari's. Check out their showroom sometime...

And for their service.... give you an example.... BMW Inspection 2 at the dealership... $720 approx. BMW Inspection 2 at Daytona... $400 approx.

Hey Mpression,

Do they have certified BMW mechanics at Daytona? If they're that much cheaper than a Maranello........why not?! Has anyone here been to this place before? And what was the service and cost like?

Dave at Motronix recommended Alex @ Daytona's. Labour rate is supposedly 70/hr. I haven't been yet, so can't comment on that. Let us know how it turns out if you do get some service from him.

$70 an hour?!?

I think i'll stick to the mechanic near my house
he charges $35 an hour, and has never complained about me having a BMW.
He doesn't say things like other shops have said to me "oh......well.....because it's a bmw will cost more to fix"

yet my personal mechanic always seems to do it for regular price, with some exceptions (sensors, and other misc bmw only parts)

but for example, i had one shop (midas) quote me $560 to change my rear rotors!
my personal mechanic did it for $270
big difference

getting back on topic, for next time, i've heard you can change the microfilter yourself pretty easily. It just takes an hour out of your day the first time around.

Hi djc0ntra

Your mechanic may be a good alternative to these other guys that are around.
Who is he and where's he located?
Was that 270 for the rotors just for labour or parts too?

To get pricing on most BMW parts, go to www.bimmerparts.com ... this will give you the going US$ price.
Multiply by 2 to get approx. final CDN pricing to you.
I actually get most of my parts currently from FCP Groton in CT.

His name is Cliff from Star Automotive Repairs
He's just down kingston road near my house (so not far if i had to limp the car there ever =)

the $270 was for parts and labour. $200 for the rotors and 2hours labour.

he's pretty good to my car, and all the other cars my family owns.
I think we get good service because we bring him a bottle of wine now and then =)
