I think it's still a good deal.
If you're planning on modifying the car later on, this is the perfect time to:
- lower the car with a new set of springs and shocks/struts
- install new rotors/pads
- install a better sounding exhaust
- power pulleys since they require new belt anyway
You can probably do all that for $5K (or much less if you shop around properly for used parts), bringing your car to $27K (or less) nicely modded already. Some of us have to replace perfectly good parts to get our cars modded up. At least you won't be wasting any.
