Exclamation

You may consider a downing atlanta S/C. They go for around $3000 USD and would give you approx. 50% gain in HP.

325 or m3 engine only

you will be more disappointed with 320 engine than with 318.

I agree, the 320 is only 12 HP more I think.

325 would be the cheapest route.

Anywhere from 10 to 15K CAD.

Since yours is a 93, I am not sure if you can put the DASC in, since your belt may be different. Ask Jim at www.downingatlanta.com. You can get DADC for about 3400US and can always sell it later for ~2800, while if you do the engine swap, you will be pretty much stuck with it all your life(money thrown away).

2.5l engine would be the cheapest and the easiest to do. 2.8l/3.2l is doable but will cost you much more since they are OBD-II. For 3.0l M3 one see above.

Got bucks?

Serge

I agree w/Harry, I think a downing atlanta supercarger would be sweet. The light weight of a 318, with the added power of forced induction, not too shabby!!

But of course an M3 engine wouldnt be too shabby either! Good luck on whatever you decide.

For the DASC, you dont need to do all the engine work that you might normally. For the price listed, I believe those are all the parts that are necessary. The amount of forced induciton for the DASC isnt high enough to necessiatate new pistons and such.

8-8.5PSI with not internal work done. You would have to do a compression test first.

I'd just save the money and buy what you really want. Which is probably a M3 engine with a supercharger. That would be insanely fast. It's a good route to go too! I've thought about that. Then again, I've thought about a lot of things since my 5er is very slow.
