yeah doing it yourself is the only way these days,labour is way too expensive,good thing i enjoy doing it ..im just using the tranny that was in there..i have the 90' trans sittin in my garage..sad to hear that guy payed so much for repairs man..i allways do things for free or cheap for ppl..but send dummys like that my way..i would of given him my motor installed for 4000$
