Got a used SHOEI helmet, is this good for track driving?

I'm getting more into track driving this season and I plan to attend many more track events.

Is this Helmet good enough for BMW driving schools?

It's ANSI and DOT approved.

I got it free off Andrew at Lee's. He used this helmet to race at mosport many many years ago. However, he's retired so he passed it on to me.

Here are some pics...

If that was a standard passed in year 2000 then no it's not. It's over 10 years old and when he gave it to me he said it should be good for lapping days, but for driving school he said it may no longer meet the regulations. More than 10 years ago it met the regulations for mosport racing events.

Then you might be given a hard time at the BMWCC.

It's its a ten year old helmet I wouldn't really recommend using it for two reasons:

-you're not supposed to keep a helmet that long, not even a bicycle helmet. The level of protection is greatly reduced
-think of the previous owners sweat, 10 years of sweat, ready to be unleashed in your hair and face once you start to sweat in it..
