Question Head unit install on 1996 328

I recently purchased a new sony head unit, and would like to install on my 1996 328.

I also have the wiring harness and antenna adaptor and would like to know if i have to worry about the fact that the cars have an amp in the trunk. I have been told I have to by-pass the amp.

Is this true??

i think that the wire harness would take care of it itself. u only have to bypass the amp if u want ur deck to power the speakers.
let me quess, circuit city told u this. well if they did on 2 dif occasions they told my friend the same thing and, on the flip side our other friend has the same car and everything and he didnt have to and he took it there to!!!!!!! those people need to get there shit together.
