BMW Club of Canada...

Well, as one of the *heavily involved members* of the BMW Club of Canada, I can shed a little light on the situation.

First of all, if you want to run at Mosport with the BMW Club you need to be a club member; no membership, no driving school. It's done this way for insurance purposes, and our insurance doesn't cover non-members.

You don't need to own a BMW to be a member of the club, but as I've said, you do need to be a member to run at the BMW schools.

If you're interested, we also run a school via Raven Performance, with all the track days out at Cayuga near Hamilton. This doesn't require a membership of any sort, and we often run 10-12 schools per year.

BMW Club...

There are some other driving schools and/or open lapping companies that run events at Mosport.

However, they don't generally allow someone who has little driving experience (Trackmasters for example...).

The BMW Club membership is only about $50 per year, and you get a few other benefits as well. We run Auto-X events once a month, along with a Go-Karting series that starts Jan 7th.

As to whether or not it's worth it....you must be kidding. I wouldn't miss it for the world. In fact, a few of us are planning a January trip to Sebring for the school / club race down there.

I'm not sure I can wait the four months until April....

You can join anytime...

However, there are no pro-rated discounts, as the membership is not calendar year annual.

So, if you join June 1st, for example, your membership is renewed on the June 1st timeframe each year. You're not tied to the calendar year.

Unless you're interested in go-karting, not much is happening (outside of monthly meetings) until April.

I have been a member of the club since april of 1999.

Basically what I have done are their driving schools (which is very organized and run).

Well the guys in the club seem to be pretty nice, but I remember at mosport when alot of the club was there some old guy was pissing me off. He walked by me when I was in my dad's M3 and he came up to me and asked me if that was my car and said to get out, I wanted to tell him to F*** off, i'm surprised I didn't, than two minutes later im pulling the car into the shade and he asks me if I have my liscence (so i don't but thats none of his bizzness), again I almost told him to F*** off, after I told him I had my liscence andlied about my age he was okay but he tohguht he was mister big shot with his BMW club shirt or hat (i can't remember which)

Wow thats kind of expensive. BMW CCA is only $35 dollars a year or thereabouts and you get a monthly 150 page magazine (Roundel) plus all the discounts and whatnot.
