well lets get this started...here is the list

what else is there to add??

5 series oil pan $400 with pick up, gasket (e39)
5 series motor mounts like $50 (e34)
complete m3 motor with wiring harness(95 E36)
e30 m3 driveshaft $200
m3 tranny (E36)
UUC of m3 trany mounts $80
e36 318 TRANSMISSION crossmemeber $20
brake booster from the 3series before the e30(E21)
m3 radiator -$300(E36)
a bunch of radiator hoses
e30 m3 guibo - 59.95
m3 shifter support and linkage $50(E36)
m3 slave cylinder -$60(E36)

besides the obvous stuff that you need with the m3 motor

I would love to do one of these custom setup modification things (engine swap M50, M30, or S38 type; or Turbo setup) but I always think would mechnic(s) have the knowledge to work on such a setup. Sure the mechanics work on tons of European cars and a number of BMW classes but will it be more difficult to troubleshot.

Most guys who would do these swaps would troubleshoot most things on their own.

And realistically, all electronic problems would be the same as on any other car with the engine, mechanicals would be the same for the engine, it's not overly different.

Trouble shooting the install is another story...

Your brought up a good point MorningCruiser and that's my problem:
1) I don't know BMWs that well yet (I need to read more about BMWs and study more in electronics. I know the basics such as gauge of wiring, ohms, volts, and amperes conversions, AC/DC but only to a small degree).
2) I have no garage to do the work in.
3) Between school and job I'll only have 10-20hrs a week to reserve for car work.

Trouthfully, I believe I could do the install if I knew all the parts, parts numbers, and had the proper equipment needed and a good work area.

grk325, I think there is a driver of an S50-E30 on www.e30.de that wrot an article about the install. Hopefully, someone (EMPOWERD or Jeremy) will post here they've done the M50/S50 type swap, so maybe they'll be of some help.

Can it be that in your Us Version the S50 engine has got only 280HP?

US M3s got m50b30 and m52b32 engines and both are 240hp

euro m3 got s50b30 which is 286hp and s52b32 which is 321hp
