Yes, the 86 ES tranny will fit the 91 I. You also need to get some other parts from the ES, like drive shaft, flywheel, the pedals and all the clutch related components. I say do as much of the job yourself and leave the rest to the shop. You can save money by doing some simple (but very time consuming) tasks like changing the pedals!

Wonderful

I am brand new to bimmerz though as i said and dont have the slightest clue where to begin in switching over the pedals and all? Also i am going to be getting money from the insurance company for a mustang that was stolen, and i want to do a M3 engine swap how much will the engine cost where can i get and who could do the swap or could i do it myself? It will be a while till i do the M3 conversion so what can i do until then to soupe up the is engine? Maybe a turbo or supercharger that could be used later on the M3 also?? Please let me know know thank you for being so kind to a newbie!

PS

I spoke with my local BMW shop Zims Autotechnics they say the tranny conversion would be very expensive to do most likely 60 hours of labor?? Where should i go to have this done what kind of shop should i look for??

imnear 100% sure they never made a 91 325'is' but anyways

My advice would be to sell your car and buy a 5spd one

auto to standard tranny swap are never worth it unless you are putting it into a car that never came standard or is really rare like that dude on maxbimmer that put the 6spd in his S/C 7er
