e36 2.8

ok guys, i will buy an e36 325i or 318.... the cheaper. And i want to swap a 328 engine in it. So thats my question... it will fit? What are the cost of the engine? and where sould i find a 328 engine?
All in CND $$ , i'm from QC, so now you understand my poor english!! lol

it wouldn't be worth the time and money to swap out a 2.5 for 2.8. Why dont' you just keep the 2.5 and mod it, you will probably see better performance than a stock 2.8. There is also an 3.2 swap or FI which is most cost effective

Finding a 2.8L engine shouldn't be too hard, expect to pay at least a couple thousand dollars for it. But the hardest part will be doing the OBD1 conversion for that engine to work on 95 or older cars.

Your cheapest bet is to buy a 325 and just mod it (intake, exhaust, cams, etc etc.) , maybe do a 2.9L conversion, or just save up and buy an M3 engine.

how is it going to cost to put an intake, cam and exhaust.. in a 325 ? will it be as fast as my jetta vr6 ???? thanks LUC

a 318 with 3.2 M is the best bang for buck. However, you will need to upgrade the suspension to compensate for weight differences on the 318, and you my want a new differential as well.

I have a 318i and did a swap. I had a 95 325i engine put in with a chip, light fly wheel, air intake and dual cat-back exahust. It was woth it! It cost me approx. $7500 to get all this done. I would recommend this only if you have upgraded your suspension and braking system. As for doing a swap from a 2.5 to 2.8, money wise, it is not worth it. In fact 93-95 325i is a higher rev engine that can have more done to it as compared to the 2.8
Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but that is what I have learned and read over the years....?
