Wink Need Help!!!

So what do u guys recommend? My dad has a 2000 Toyota Camry XLE, this car has everything. He's finding that he doesn't want to drive such a big car anymore. He's narrowed it down to 2 choices. He either wants to buy a 2001 Mazda Protoge 5 or 2001 Honda Civic SiR. (i was pressing towards a used beamer but the old man's got his heart set already ) Yeah so i need some good points on which car is the better buy. He's willing to spend up to around $22,000.I love MAZDA's personally but the Civic does have that "V-Tech" engine i hear so much about

well the protege 5 is an awesome car i know cuz my dad wanted one, the only thing is that the price is so low, but they dont include a/c, etc....but get all the options and try for the leather interior....its 2 400 option but its worth it, its custom 2 tone to the exterior and is really nice i loved it. the civic SiR in my opinion is ugly and the fact that the shifter is on the dash wud be awkward for u when u shift. You'll get used to it but i wud say the protoege 5 is the best deal!

and btw..its V-TEC! theres no H...unless ur talkin about the company that makes phones hehe

Whaa? the shifter in the Civic is on the Dash? no no no.. i'm not talking about the new hatchback Civic, i totally agree with u on the fact that its super ugly and overpriced. With the options we want the guy quoted us $33k!Nah.. i'm talking about the 2-door Coupe... i don't think that the shifters on the dash in that one. Yeah.. i'd much rather the Mazda but we'll see. OH YEAH..HAHA.. thanx for the heads up on my "V-TEC mistake...lol.. i should really preview my posts before i submit them

If you want to get really picky, I don't think there's a dash between the V and the TEC either.

ie VTEC

not

V-TEC

well, it comes down to performance or looks.

the SiR comes with 160hp, is supposed to be quite fast, but it looks friggen ugly as hell.

the protege 5 on the other hand looks much nicer, but its performance values arent as great.

performance can be made out of the protoge 5 once products come out, as of now there are nothing for the new SiR becuz of the i-VTEC. which is a totally different system than the regular VTEC. so give some time and both will have good products. but on the other hand...his dad probably wudnt buy those cars for performance

I'm not dissing honda here or nothing, but i-Vtec stands for "Intelligent"-Vtec. I mean, c'mon, couldnt they think of a better word??

ur right gamite...im not against honda either but i think their vtec was better than i-vtec....it was more compatible...and plus, instead of changing it to i-vtec why didnt they keep vtec but add more L? and in anycase vtec only kicks in at a certain rpm, but the vanos and vvt-i is all the time...but i guess vtec at a certin rpm is to save gas
