rally rally...

Yea, so I snowed tonight for those living in Toronto. I did a bit of rallying with my friend. Man the all-season tires are starting to piss me off, they give up too easily! i tried holding a large radius drift but it gave up. But then again, the surface wasn't smooth asphault so once the wheels just kept spinning i backed off throttle right away.

Anyhow i got some footage but probably won't have it up till next weekend b/c i'm too busy this week. I'm not a professional driver nor is my friend (a4 1.8t quattro) so when i have the videos up, don't start saying that what we did is boring. I know it's peanuts, but hey, i'm not risking ma car on a set of crappy all seasons. We had our share of fun!

we're gonna see if we can record MTRD doing some donuts at Husky.

Bliss & 328, if we do do it, can you post it here?

hmm

Oh yea, any idea if
all season vs. winter's make a big differece for fresh snow? I've never tried winters on a rwd, so i can't tell the diff as of now!

Anybody know a proper technique to do donuts in the snow, b/c once i get it going for the 2nd round, sometimes the rear end just stayed planted and the tires spin so i back off the throttle. could it bee the all seasons giving up, like if i had winter tires one, would i not experience this problem?

Last nite was my first time driving a normal car (moms civic) in the snow and I loved it, it makes an auto civic fun again. I pulled the ebrake and swung the whole back end around a corner, it was awesome

winter tires

Since we're talking about winter driving........and I've only had the 328 for a couple of weeks. Thank God I have winter tires on them. Being an avid skier, I highly recommend having winter tires on a car. Unless it's a vehicle that normally comes with narrow tires to begin with (ex. Tercel, Sentra, etc..). My Michelin's have so far been good. With the little snow that we've had this season. It's a little early to tell. Saturday night's few cm's of snow gave me time to have some fun and play a bit. Donuts are vvvvvery easy to do with the rear wheel drives. Compared to the hand-brake technique I've used on my Accord. Anyhow. If you can afford them, somehow find a way to put winters on. Also saves wear on your summer tires. Remember, it only takes on mistake to make them pay for themselves.
