Gurl Bmw, question about your valve cover

Hey there,

I was looking at the SGR website and I saw your car. I love that chrome looking valve cover you have on your 318, it looks sweet! I'm just looking for something to dress up my engine bay a bit and I was just wondering if you painted it yourself or if you bought another valve cover. If you purchased it somewhere could you please let me know where and for how much? Thanks!

Bryan

Actually it is the original Valve Cover and I just Polished the metal.
I used a buffing wheel and alot of hours... It probably took about 4 hours in total... But well worth it.... I am going to be doing my intake manifold eventally too... Shouldn't tak too long to do that one.

Hope this helps....

By the way you will get really dirty when you do it... cover your face and body.....

Thanks, I'll probably go ahead and do that. After you polished it did you use any paint or clear coat? Lastly, you don't mind if I copy you right? I'm not sure if you want your car to be more unique, if you don't want anyone to copy you just let me know and I'll just paint it blue or something.

Thanks again,

Bryan

If it doesn't work I'm going to paint mine silver like the one they have on the ACS 2.1L S3 stroker engine kits.

Did you guys remove it when you polished/painted it? I could probably paint it without removing it but sanding it down will be difficult.

You have to remove the vavle cover to do it properly... So remove it... then you want to dull it up with the wire wheel..(not too much though)... Then you need to get some compond I think it was blue or white... One of them is better colour to use... I can't remeber...

Oh... you don't have to buy a new seal... but I did.... probably a good idea to buy one though.....
I don't mind at all.... Hey... I copied someone too.....
